FAQ

What is the self-care model of health?

The self-care model of health is a natural, holistic coaching approach to lifestyle changes and behavior modifications rather than depending on a doctor and medication for treatment. It emphasizes the client’s responsibility to take steps to maintain, improve, and restore their own health. Self-care services are not billed to insurance companies and what you pay has been disclosed to you. Payment is provided/expected either after your initial consultation, before lab testing begins, or as agreed upon with the health coach.

Why would a person choose the self-care model of health?

Many people have seen 6-7 doctors and still have not had resolution of their health complaints, so they search for something different. The self-care model of health allows you the freedom to access the FDN health coach immediately without worrying about if they are considered “in network” or gaining approval from your insurance provider. Some other benefits of using the self-care model for health are:

* Flexibility to engage in longer consultations/appointments that are more in depth that help you

understand your body and the lab test results

* Availability of appointments/meetings rather than waiting months to be seen by a doctor

* Ability to easily contact and communicate with your health coach. Eliminate the hassle of

contacting your doctor’s office and speaking with the middleman and then waiting for a return phone

call or email.

Why is the self-care model of health not covered by insurance?

The standard care for treatment is that insurance companies want a specific diagnosis to approve coverage. Depending on the diagnosis, the insurance company will allow certain tests to confirm the diagnosis and either allow treatment or place limitations on care.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash, debit, and all major credit cards.

Can I use my HSA (Health Savings Account), FSA (Flexible Spending Account, HRA (Health

Reimbursement Account)?

Individuals can generally use these funds for qualified expenses which may

include the costs of lab fees, vitamins/dietary supplements, and for treatment or prevention of

disease.

How much do your programs cost?

Basic Improvement includes the cost of 2 labs; $1,500. (supplements not included)

Comprehensive Transformation includes the cost of 3 labs; $2,500. Please note that additional labs

may be recommended. (supplements not included)

Complete Wellness Program includes the cost of all 6 labs, a 2-hour lab analysis review, and the

first round of supplementation; $7,000

I understand that this may seem like a large amount of money, however, I want you to consider this

as an investment in your health and yourself! How much money are you losing when you are not

functioning at your highest level? How much money have you already spent on medications, doctors,

and treatments that have not given you relief from your main health complaints? An even better

question is, how is this health challenge holding you back from fully living? How much time have

you lost on not doing the things you enjoy? Time is our most precious resource, once it is gone,

you can’t get it back.

Why should I try the FDN approach?

FDN works with and respects the natural intelligence of the body, I investigate where your body is not functioning properly and uncover healing opportunities and work to remove as many obstacles as possible while nurturing the cells, tissues, organs and systems in your body. I look to resource your internal environment while reducing your external stressors so the body will heal itself.

What are functional lab tests?

Functional lab tests reveal how your body is actually working and where it may be out of balance. The  foundational lab tests reveal healing opportunities that are most commonly rooted in: hormones, immune, digestion, detoxification, energy production, and nervous system. These tests are completed in the privacy of your own home, except for a simple blood draw for one test.

What are the foundational lab tests?

Stress and Hormone Panel (SHP) - A saliva test that measures: cortisol levels to assess circadian

rhythm (your bodies internal clock that regulates sleep-wake cycles), sex hormones (estrogen,

progesterone testosterone), and immune/gut function.

Metabolic Wellness Profile (MWP) – A dried urine test that measures: how well your body breaks down

and utilizes food absorption, eliminates waste, and shows imbalance of harmful molecules called

free radicals to protective molecules called antioxidants.

Mucosal Barrier Assessment (MBA) - A dried blood spot test that measures: the health of your gut

lining (healthy gut vs leaky gut), and immune/inflammation response.

GI-MAP – A stool test that measures: your gut environment (pathogens, H-pylori, good/beneficial and

bad/opportunistic bacteria, fungi/yeast, viruses, parasites) and gut/immune markers.

Mediator Release Test (MRT) – A blood draw from a local lab that measures: food sensitivities or intolerances to certain foods and chemicals which create inflammation in your body.

Metabolic Typing (MT) An online assessment that measures: your unique metabolic profile (we each have different genetics and influences) therefore, we all have different macronutrient requirements for protein, fats, carbohydrates at each meal.

What happens once my test results are completed and received back?

All test results will be emailed to you prior to your Results and Recommendations coaching session.  A customized protocol that meets your individual requirements in the following areas: Diet, Rest, Exercise, Stress Reduction, and Supplementation will be provided.

How long does it take to see the results of functional health coaching?

Everyone’s healing journey is different.  Health is personal, you did not get sick overnight; you will not get well overnight.  The health journey is a lot of little things that add up overtime, it requires dedication and consistency to make lifestyle changes so you can finally see real results.

Disclaimer: I do not diagnose or treat any specific conditions or focus on individual symptoms. My role is to

educate you on the core causes of stress and imbalances within your body.  I will teach you how to restore

balance through a self-care model of health.   All recommendations are voluntary and meant to empower you

with education and awareness. I always encourage you to consult with your physician before making

changes to your current health routine.
